The Krnov Brass Orchestra was founded in 1961 by Karel Dospiva, who worked with the orchestra until 2010. The first performance took place on May 1, 1962. The high demands of this great conductor and regular demanding rehearsals soon brought the orchestra among the best of its kind. , both in the Czech Republic and abroad. This is evidenced, among other things, by the continual victory in the central rounds of the brass brass orchestra competitions from 1971 to 1990, and many victories in foreign competitions (eg the absolute winner of the concert and marching competitions in Neerpelt, Belgium, the absolute winner of the concert competition) in Rostock, Germany in 1990, etc.). One of the last great successes of the orchestra is the participation in the international competition of big brass orchestras in Ostrava in June 2017, where the orchestra won three great prizes in its category - gold medal, honors in its category and the prize for the best performance of the compulsory song.
During its existence, the orchestra has successfully participated in many major festivals and competitions in the Czech Republic (Kmoch's Kolín, FEDO Štětí, FIJO Cheb, international competitions of large wind orchestras in Brno, Prague, Ostrava, etc.) and has represented the Czech Republic many times in festivals and competitions. abroad (USA, China, Great Britain, France, Spain, Italy, Holland, Belgium, Greece, Croatia, Austria, Germany, Poland, Slovakia). The best-known performances of the orchestra include the London Royal Albert Hall concert in 1991, the United States concert tour in 2008, and the highly successful Asian tour of 2016 - 2017, when the October 2016 band presented itself greatly at the "2016 Beijing International Band Festival ”in Beijing, China, where its concert and marching performances were so popular that it was invited by Chinese organizers to China immediately afterwards and in September 2017 it also starred at the world-famous“ Shanghai Tourism Festival ”in Shanghai, China.
The orchestra currently has about 60 members and still holds a high artistic level. Since 2011, Luděk Tlach, a former player and current teacher of the Elementary Art School in Krnov, has been the artistic director and principal conductor of the orchestra, under whose leadership the orchestra recently celebrated its 56th anniversary.
