II. Department of Internal Medicine is currated by Jan Zdráhal

In September 2018 a new, modern building II. internal clinics - gastroenterology and geriatrics. This building is the only one of its kind in the Czech Republic to meet the criteria for the designation of "passive building", a building with almost zero energy consumption.

II. The internal clinic became the home of intensive care units, lecture halls, specialized examination rooms, inpatient departments and last but not least, the clinic itself.

 

History

In the spring of 1946, in the framework of the renewal of the Palacký University in Olomouc and its Faculty of Medicine, the II. internal clinic as a separate department in charge of teaching internal propaedeutics. Already in August of the same year, the twenty-two beds at that time began teaching students in this field,

 

Since 1964 he has been providing instruction in the field of internal medicine for both general and dental care.

 

Since 1 September 2000, there has been a fundamental change in the structure of individual internal clinics. It started to apply and relatively strictly adhere to the profiling of individual interiors. II. internal medicine focused more than ever on gastroenterology, hepatology and diabetology, but on the other hand it did not stop caring for patients with other internal diseases.
