univ. prof. PhDr. Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk
Teacher, publicist, philosopher, politician.
Participant in the first resistance movement 1914-1919.
The first president of the Czechoslovak Republic was elected on November 14, 1918 and then in 1920, 1927 and 1934. He retired from office for health reasons, abdicated in November 1935 and the following month on 14 December 1935.
Brno visited TG Masaryk several times, not only as a Czechoslovak president.
It was important to visit the state capital and exhibition of contemporary culture at the Brno Exhibition Center in 1928. The exhibition was to show the achievements of the young state at the time when it was celebrating its 10th anniversary. In Brno, the President was always enthusiastically welcomed. He also did not care for an extremely sensitive relationship to the city he studied for four years.
The Brno study and the environment of the nationally mixed city have made a significant contribution to shaping the personality of the future president of the Czechoslovak Republic and the prominent European statesman TG Masaryk.
